Science, art and technology to differentiate yourself in the Metaverse

We introduce you to a project focused on digital identity in the Metaverse for which we use our expertise in blockchain, NFTs and smart contracts.

At Wealize we work on different products based on blockchain technology including platforms for decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), as well as tools to operate in digital ecosystems, such as smart contracts, NFTs or wallets. 

We have recently embarked with one of our clients on a venture that includes science, art and technology. It is DNAverse, which essentially works with this premise pointed out at its website: "If proteins are the most important molecules in life, crypto-proteins will be the genesis drop of human life in the Metaverse.” Let us take it one step at a time to explain the DNAverse idea.

DNA and art in an NFT to express unequivocally our unique identity

Our DNA makes us unique. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) contains all the hereditary genetic information; it is like an instruction manual of our development, life and reproduction. 

DNA differences make each individual unrepeatable. No two people are the same, even if they are twins. And here we have the first pillar that supports the idea of DNAverse: DNA is the expression of each human unicity.

The relationship between DNA, the molecule studied by science, and the artistic creation is not new. There are impressive results. Watson and Crick's model of DNA structure in the form of a double helix has been used in painting, sculpture and architecture. The linking of science and art is a constant throughout history.  

The Arts and Sciences have always influenced each other and, although at times they have apparently not gone hand in hand, the reality is that scientific theories and machine design have succumbed to beauty and artists have made use of scientific ideas and technological advances in their creative processes. 

Another pillar of DNAverse is based on this idea: the fusion of scientific precision and the creativity of artistic expression. With the introduction of new technologies, binomial science and art acquires  greater and richer dimensions. 

Moreover, it is the case today that as our lives develop more and more in digital spaces, so logically, the fusion of arts and sciences becomes digital too. Both make use of digital technologies and express themselves in digital spaces. 

The first question is how to guarantee and demonstrate the unique and irreplaceable character of a digital artwork and authenticate its ownership.

The next question is how to express in a digital word our identity, this set of features that make us different from others and reflect our real essence.

Our client proposes to connect two unique and irreplaceable realities, DNA, the reflection of the uniqueness of each person, and its artistic expression in a digital artwork. 

NFTs representing our human essence in the Metaverse

DNAVERSE encourages us to immortalize the uniqueness of our DNA in an NFT (non fungible token). This NFT contains an animated art piece that expresses our genetic information. If we are going to inhabit part of our time -and life- in the metaverse and other digital worlds, we will want to have digital assets that unequivocally represent our identity. DNAVErse explains it this way:

“This simple act of introducing your genetics into an NFT art piece can evolve in many ways, from verifying humans against AIs in digital worlds or personalizing digital assets with your true essence; to merge biological data & structures into digital avatars”.

Which is the contribution of Wealize to the DNAVErse project?

As blockchain experts, our work is focused on the transformation of a digital asset (in this case, an exclusive and unique animated art piece) into an NFT, and the implementation of smart contracts that allow the purchase and sale of the non-fungible tokens. 

Blockchain, NFT and Smart Contracts

Hosted on a blockchain net, an NFT is like a certificate of ownership to which a digital asset, in this case an animated art piece, is associated. 

Smarts contracts describe the contractual agreements. With them, it is possible to automate relationships between people or machines without the intervention of a trusted intermediary.

The end users who purchase an NFT with the artistic representation of their DNA will receive a url with an identifier associated to a token that will include all the metadata and data of the animated art piece.

Fulfilling the security standards to certificate authenticity and ownership

Our work also includes ensuring that security requirements are met. The implementation of smart contracts is done in accordance with Open Zeppelin's standard for secure blockchain applications and tokens, according to the ERC 721 model. 

In situations like this, with unique and unrepeatable assets and where certification of authenticity and ownership are key, we use ERC721. This is the standard to represent the ownership of the non-fungible token, i.e., it ensures that each token is unique.  When cataloging in OpenSea, as in this case, the best option is the most recent implementation of ERC721 in Open Zeppelin.
